Chairs and other furniture made to commission
The beauty of wood:
I have been designing and making furniture for 30 years and I am still motivated by the natural beauty of our native hardwoods.I buy my timber as locally as possible from sustainable sources.
Every piece is unique:
The timber for each piece of furniture is carefully selected for colour and grain pattern as well as overall quality and stability.I want to get the most out of this precious resource and build furniture that will stand the test of time.
Less is more:
When it comes to design I like to keep things simple - strong lines with detail kept to a minimum, elegant curves with no frills,a sense of proportion and balance.I want my work to have a timeless quality so that it looks good in a traditional or contemporary setting.
I can make it happen:
Most of my work is commissioned to serve a particular use or fit in a given space.I listen to my customer's ideas and try to realise the picture they have in their mind's eye.Often we design the piece together.
Invitation to dinner:
Tables and chairs are my speciality.I like to think that I am encouraging friends and families to enjoy good company and good food by offering comfortable chairs and practical tables.
Public commissions:
I have designed and made chairs for the boardroom of The Ironbridge Gorge Museum and for a side chapel at St Matthews Church in Birmingham.
