Willey Furnace Pottery
Designer and maker of decorated earthenware and stoneware
Elspeth Soper has been potting at Willey Furnace Pottery since 1985. The pots are thrown on a kickwheel and decorated using combinations of poured and painted slips, and underglaze colours. They are then glazed and fired in a downdraft gas kiln.
Her pots are inspired by Eastern European pottery and the ducks, geese, chickens and guinea fowl that she kept until the fox got them
all!
She occasionally makes stoneware pots and also sculptural pieces which usually reflect her interest in Native American and First Nation
Canadian cultures and artefacts.
Elspeth’s pots are for sale at a number of galleries, she also holds open days at her pottery and the pottery can be visited by
appointment.
See elspethsoper.blogspot.co.uk for information about galleries and open days.
