Guild Seeks New Members!
Tue June 29, 2010
Sophie Eades, Chair of the Guild said "the Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft was formed in 2001 to promote, display and sell the work of designer makers working in Shropshire. Our members use traditional skills and techniques, alongside innovative modern methods, to produce contemporary work of the highest calibre".
Sophie continued "we currently have over 30 members, from potters to furniture makers, leather workers, basket makers and jewellers and we are now accepting applications for membership prior to our next committee meeting in August."
The Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft also organises the popular 'Showing Off' exhibition in Ludlow each year.
To apply, individuals or businesses must be registered as self-employed or as a business and must derive a significant part of your income from the design, manufacture or creation of a craft product. You should be working within Shropshire or its immediate vicinity.
Sophie continued "Gorgeous is now full, but we would be very pleased to attract new members to display at Gorgeous 2011, or at Showing Off 2010, which still has places available". Membership is subject to committee approval.
