Prussian Blue
Jo Scotford creates handcrafted cyanotype work from her home studio in Shropshire. Her practice focuses on producing calm, atmospheric pieces that move beyond the traditional blue of the process, using toning techniques to achieve a more subtle, contemporary palette.
Her work explores botanical forms, light and composition, resulting in designs that feel both natural and considered. Each piece is made using a combination of photographic negatives, hand-prepared materials and a custom UV exposure process, allowing for both precision and variation.
The collection includes original prints, lampshades and other lighting pieces, all sharing a consistent visual language rooted in simplicity, texture and quiet detail.
Inspired by the surrounding landscape and seasonal change, Jo’s aim is to create work that sits comfortably within the home — understated, tactile and enduring.
Alongside finished pieces, Jo is developing accessible ways for others to engage with the process through kits and workshops.
