Working from my studio in Herefordshire, I design and make rustic, contemporary ceramics. From beads to basins, mugs and breadpots, toast racks to tiles, plates for chefs and any commissions that come my way.
I use a number of different clays, including a lovely gritty, toasty coloured wild clay. I have been a working potter for over twenty years and I never tire of the joy of holding and shaping by hand a lump of clay that has come from the earth and making something useful from it.
Many of my pieces are hand built which gives a wonderful tactile and raw quality to the object and imperfections that enhance the integrity of the finished work.
I throw the Breadpots on a traditional pottery wheel.
I find inspiration for colours and texture in my work on coastal walks – sand; lichen covered rocks; rock pools and am influenced daily by the world outside my pottery studio – a landscape of open moorland, pine forests and mountain streams.
Vicky Ware Ceramics are available in my online shop and the full range is in my showroom adjacent to my workshop.
I am a member of the Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft and the Craft Potters Association.
